Executive Director - Dayangdu Sherpa
Dayangdu is the daughter of our beloved head Sherpa guide, Kami Nurbu Sherpa.
Dayangdu was born in a potato shed on her grandmothers farm 25 years ago in Ghat, Solokhumbu. This is where she lived until she was 17 years old.
At 12 years old she began accompanying us on our Sherpa Encounter treks in the fall as a “trek helper”. This worked out very well as during the fall season the children are out of school.
When she turned 15 she became a regular Sherpa helper on all of our treks.
At age 17 she went to University in Kathmandu where she graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
She has also completed her licensing as a Himalayan trekking guide, graduating in the top of her class.
During her 6 years in Kathmandu she managed our Sherpa Encounters groups through their entire experience. This included their arrival in Kathmandu, trekking in the Solokhumbu, and back to Kathmandu assisting and managing any addition adventures (i.e. The Chitwan Nature Reserve).
She has completed 22 treks now to Everest base camp with our groups and has done all three passes multiple times.
She has become the cornerstone of Sherpa Encounters.
From the time you land in Kathmandu, Dayangdu will be there. She will coordinate all your ground transportation, your hotel rooms, cultural tours, flights to and from Lukla and be with you every step of the way on the trek. Her Dad is our head guide but Dayangdu is the “Franchise”!
Her caring and compassion coupled with her wonderful sense of humour make her without a doubt the best Sherpa guide in Nepal. Well maybe 2nd best. We don’t want to hurt her fathers feelings!
